Creating a contemporary ‘SciTech’ centre supporting evolving developments in ‘S.T.E.A.M’ curriculum.

Following the successful completion of their new Learning and Resource Centre, Ravenswood School for Girls appointed Sandrick Project Directions as the Project Management consultant for the next stage of the Master Plan comprising a new Science and Technology Centre.

The project referred to as the “Sci-Tech Centre” involved the adaptive re-use of a three level building and its adjacent courtyard to provide a new science precinct for the campus. Consistent with the Master Plan principles, new pedestrian arteries were created to link the science centre with junior, middle and senior school precincts and the heart of the campus.

The new science centre provides seven new laboratories with individual layouts to cater for specific curricular requirements with all  having direct access to the new science courtyard creating outdoor learning spaces as a convenient extension to laboratory based learning.

A dedicated microscope lab provides a specialised learning facility with all microscopes linked to central digital display monitors to enhance group learning. Extensive audio visual, wireless network coverage and a building management system are provided throughout all learning environments to enable students and teachers to support individual and group discovery and to improve learning outcomes.

In addition to the new science learning level, new staff facilities were created for seven faculties incorporating individual and group work environments, breakout and social spaces, a professional library, print facilities, quiet rooms, meeting rooms and staff/student collaboration rooms in addition to individual and central resource storage facilities.
