Ravenswood School for Girls

Science and Technology Centre

Project Details

The project referred to as the “Sci-Tech Centre” involved the adaptive re-use of a three level building and its adjacent courtyard to provide a new science precinct for the campus. Consistent with the Master Plan principles, new pedestrian arteries were created to link the science centre with junior, middle and senior school precincts and the heart of the campus.

The new science centre provides seven new laboratories with individual layouts to cater for specific curricular requirements with all having direct access to the new science courtyard creating outdoor learning spaces as a convenient extension to laboratory based learning.

The project faced significant challenges requiring innovative approaches to decanting strategies to ensure teaching could be maintained during the refurbishment of the project. In addition, significant Value Engineering strategies were adopted to ensure the functional outcome was not compromised and for the project to be delivered on time and within budget.
